Results from Chandler Orchards Climate Study
A decade ago when we began to evaluate different regions for walnut production, we commissioned a study of the local weather conditions in Santa Rosa County and the area surrounding Las Catitas. Included in the study are the Evapotranspiration reference values for the area. We invite you to read the complete study, but the highlights are as follows:
Rainfall
Annual rainfall averages 6.8 inches (173 mm).
Irrigation
Supplemental irrigation is required for cultivation.
Chill Hours
The area averages 1350 chill hours and 800 Richardson Cold Units per year.
Humidity
Relative humidity ranges from 35-65%.
